Ulysse Collin Blanc de Noirs
Les Maillons Extra-Brut (2010 base)

"Some of the most compelling wines being made in Champagne today." -Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

The wines of Ulysse Collin can come dangerously close to overwhelming the senses. They work on a grandness of scale, with such intensity and in such an utterly, mind-bendingly individual way.

Olivier Collin spent some time with Anselme Selosse and, like so many of Champagne's younger generation, was inspired to take over his family's vineyards, which were being rented out to a big maison.

His first vintages were really impressive, but recently there's no doubt that his learning curve has accelerated. Without sacrificing any of the intensity, the wines have become intricately finessed and even clearer.

Collin's Blanc de Noirs Les Maillons is sourced from old Pinot vines in chalky clay soil. This is Collin's most powerful wine. Les Maillons is one the most fascinating and compellingly unique Champagnes that you'll taste.

It possesses an intense, slightly earthy minerality with dark Pinot fruits. For all of its expansive power, everything is delineated and clear. There's a formidible structure that radiates energy. Its breadth combined with an electric mineral lift, makes it really noteworthy. Collin's 2010s show a really impressive freshness that's on full display in the Maillons.

Allocations have always been tight, but it's gotten worse. Finding the quantities for an offer is difficult, but the wines are compelling enough to justify all the work. We're sneaking this offer in on a Sunday for that, but it's likely that it will sell out. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
