Whenever I have the opportunity to buy 2014s in magnums, I don't hesitate.
The 2014 vintage produced simply extraordinary white Burgundies. It's one of the best young white Burgundy vintages that I've tasted. There's an impression of completeness and elegance to the wines that's special.
Lamy simply nailed the vintage and the 2014 1er Cru Frionnes dramatizes their success.Â
Lamy has holdings in all of the top sites - Chatenière, En Remilly, and Les Murgers des Dents de Chien. While these wines receive most of the attention, people who taste through Lamy's lineup often flock to the 1er Cru Frionnes.
Originating from vines that date as far back as 1936, Frionnes is a wine for purists. It's fiercely mineral with a complex intermingling of stone, saline, and citrus.
When you add the 2014 vintage and the magnum format, you have a can't-miss combination. The 2014 Frionnes boasts incredible clarity, finesse, and beautiful balance. There's a very nice appealing texture that complements the mineral rigor.Â
As you can probably imagine, we have a very limited amount of magnums available. I suspect that they will sell out quickly.Â
