Pierre-Yves Colin is easily one of the most exciting winemakers in Burgundy.

It's impossible not to be in awe of him. People speak about Colin-Morey's wines in the same hushed way that they speak of Jean-François Coche-Dury and Jean-Marc Roulot.

When you taste the wines, you immediately understand why. Colin-Morey represents Chardonnay at its most intense, its most pure, its most integrated. These are crystalline expressions of citrus, flower, stone fruits and mineral with explosive complexity and rigorous detail.

Colin-Morey's 2011s are just stunning. Pierre-Yves himself said that the 2011 is notable for its balance. It's a sort of elusive descriptor, but within that delicate equilibrium lies the vintage's clear fruit, harnessed with intense minerality, richness, and vigor that are all, yes, perfectly balanced.

The '11 Les Combes exemplifies the extraordinary balance that Pierre-Yves Colin hit. Les Combes is a northeast-facing vineyard that in Pierre-Yves Colin's hands produces a wine of mineral-soaked intensity and blazing acid tension. All this is combined with the purity, refinement and complexity that we've come to expect from Colin-Morey.

I'm going to wrap this up. There are never enough of Colin-Morey's wines to go around. Each time we offer the wines, they sell out quickly. I'm really excited to be able to offer this incisive and beautifully harmonious example of Pierre-Yves Colin's skill.
