Utterly Captivating
2011 Brovia Barolo Rocche di Castiglione

"In 2011, the Rocche stands out for its total sense of class." -Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

Few producers come close to rivaling Brovia's success in 2011. In recent years, we've watched this traditionalist become one of Barolo's top addresses.

The 2011s drive home the high caliber of winemaking. Across the range, they possess rigorous structure, radiance and lift. The wines have a poise, length and balance that's unique for the vintage.

As is usually the case, Rocche is the star of the line-up.

Rocche is a key site for Brovia. Not only does Brovia have a very choice parcel in the vineyard, but it’s their oldest holding and home to their oldest vines. If we were to tally up our favorite bottles of Brovia, ones from Rocche would dominate the list.

Rocche strikes a gorgeous balance between the more muscular Barolos of Monforte and Serralunga and the more perfumed and feminine examples from La Morra. Rocche leads with beautifully complex floral, red fruit and spice notes, backed by a firm edge of raw tannin. Above all, Rocche is about aromatics and elegance.

The 2011 Rocche is a captivating and finessed expression of this site. Antonio Galloni captures the wine well when he writes, "the Rocche stands out for its total sense of class." There are gorgeously complex aromatics and textural refinement.

Brovia's Rocche is one of the top wines of the vintage. It's nice that pricing hasn't caught up with the quality coming out of Brovia these days. The only issue is that quantities are limited. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
