Startling Success
2013 Clape Cornas Renaissance

Word appears to be out Clape's on success in 2013. He nailed the vintage.

A couple of weeks ago we offered Clape's 2013 Cornas and it blew up.

In the Northern Rhône, 2013 produced thrilling, structured and vibrant wines. It's an important vintage.

Even in the context of 2013's success, Clape produced a startling collection of wines. They represent the pinnacle of the vintage.

Renaissance is intended to be Clape's younger vine Cornas bottling to be drunk earlier than his regular one. Of course, this is in the context of Clape's bone crunchingly structured and dark style. This is to say that the Cornas Renaissance is a dead serious bottle of wine.

The 2013 Renaissance is simultaneously inky and full of mineral-inflected verve. Dark fruits mingle with olive tapenade, game, spice and a jet-black minerality. The high acidity of 2013 lends a freshness and high-toned lift.

When Clape's Renaissance hits the level that it achieved in 2013, it offers incredible value. You can expect this to benefit from at least a decade in the cellar.
