Stein Rosé:
The Legend Returns

Posted by Joe Salamone

When we last were able to offer this wine, we wrote: "This time, go long because it may be another five years before we can offer this wine again."

That was in 2018, offering the 2017 vintage. You can do the quick math here. The only offer before this was when we introduced this wine to the U.S. with the 2013 vintage!

At the time - 13 years ago - it was an auspicious selection for an email: a rosé, from the Mosel? Even to us, it didn't make a whole lot of sense. To say it was an outlier would have been an understatement.

Yet already by this time we were becoming obsessed with the curiosities of the Mosel's resident genius-rebel, Dr. Ulli Stein. And when the 2013 landed, it was clear that this rosé, made from Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from the steep, slate-riddled cliffs of the Mosel, was special.

Even in 2014 (when we offered the 2013), people took notice. It was one of the most exciting and mineral rosés of the year, and it quickly sold out.

Now, it is something of a legend - a most surprising cult wine.

At as low as $21.95 on the six-pack purchase, this is more than a cult wine. This is a steal. You likely already know this, but: Grab as much as you can.

The 2025 rosé is truly exceptional: heady, effusive, perfumed, beautifully floral, and ultra-light with crisp, fresh, cool-toned shards of slate washing across the palate.

As always, it's this crystal-clear freshness, evident in nearly all of Stein's wines, which goes a long way in explaining why Stein is one of our most beloved producers anywhere. They are some of the wines that we drink the most, that make us the happiest.

This is one of our absolute favorite rosés of the season - it always is. But we can't always source enough to offer this... so don't miss it! Summer is coming!
