I'll keep this short. Egon Müller produces some of the greatest and most age-worthy white wines in the world.

His 2015s are some of the best that we've seen from him in decades.

The 2015 Spätlese is the total package. It's long, brilliantly precise and amazingly elegant. The 2015s are lifted, cooly mineral and razor cut. Müller amazes in the way that he's able to combine walk-on-tip-toe finesse with incredible intensity.

Scharzhofberg is a unique site. There's no disputing its greatness, but it's a departure from many other top sites. Most of Germany's top vineyards are primarily about ripeness. Scharzhofberg produces wines with relatively low oechsle (ripeness) levels. What Müller does with Scharzhofberg is magical. He renders the site beautifully clear, with a steely finesse and indisputable nobility. The 2015 drives this home in a profound way.

The bouquet offers up a cool and classy constellation of apple,. pear, lime zest, a gorgeous base of slate and a potpourri of very gentle floral tones in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and feline in personality, with a fine core, ripe, seamless acids and stunning focus and grip on the poised, pure and perfectly balanced finish. This wine isvery, very long and still quite primary and in need of a bit of cellaring to really blossom."
