2010 Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru "Les Clos"

"The 2010 William Fèvre Les Clos is the very finest of what is an utterly stunning array of Grand Crus ... Stunning juice."
-John Gilman

I tasted Fèvre's entire 2010 line-up this winter. The wines were simply mind-blowing.

Since we've received our eagerly awaited allocation, I've been offering the highlights of Fèvre's stunning 2010 collection...

... saving the best for last - Fèvre Grand Cru Les Clos.

Among Chablis' Grand Crus, Les Clos is the undisputed king. Les Clos is as powerful and densely mineral as Chablis gets. It is Chablis at its most statuesque, dazzling and complex. All of its power and sea shell minerality are married to supreme elegance.

And when it comes to Les Clos, Fèvre nails it. Fèvre’s Les Clos highlights the breeding and mineral saturated concentration of this Grand Cru, while rendering it chiseled and cut.

We've been big fans of Fèvre for some time. Since being taken over by Henriot in the late nineties, Fèvre has quickly climbed the ranks in Chablis claiming their place beside the region's two benchmarks, Vincent Dauvissat and François Raveneau.

But, in the 2010 vintage, the domaine just killed it - it's a historical vintage for them.

In short hand, for Fèvre, the vintage is about combining concentration, transparent Chablisian minerality and unrelenting detail. They are wines of class and cut, of grippy chalk-imbued minerality and citrus-fueled poise. And, above all else, they are wines of tension.

Part of Fèvre's success in the 2010 vintage comes from their practice of picking early. This allowed them to have the majority of their grapes harvested before the rains on September 25th. They harvested extremely small, very concentrated grapes with high acidity. It was pretty close to being ideal.

These small concentrated berries that make for such compelling wine also make for limited amounts. Les Clos is the domine's most sought-after wine and the word is out that Fèvre produced some of the wines of the vintage.

This is all to say that we expect a fast sell out. Give us your maximum order and we'll allocate accordingly.
