As we've said before, it's close to a dream brew combining ripeness, acidity and tannic grip. Depth, substance and verve - it's all there in 2012.

Clos des Papes is one of the high points of the vintage.
It should come as no surprise that Clos des Papes just nailed the vintage. This has been the story all too often. The wines at this estate have gone from strength to strength for well over 30 years - it's a reference-point for Châteauneuf.
Clos des Papes has taken a firm stance against "super-cuvées." In other words, every year, all of the best fruit goes into their one cuvée - it is not siphoned off for multiple cuvées or held back for rare trophy bottlings.
The 2012 is a tour de force. Intensity is the key word. Think of layers of explosive, complex aromatics (thyme, lavender, rosemary, pepper, etc.) with saturating red fruits, beautiful energy and serious structure.
