The 1er Cru Perrières is holy ground for Chardonnay.
Meursault doesn’t have any Grand Crus, but there’s no doubt that Perrières can rival Grand Crus from other villages.
For us, when it comes to the intersection of value and quality, Ballot Millot's Perrières is hard to beat.
Ballot Millot has been on a swift ascent since 2001 when Charles Ballot took over from his father Philippe. A few years ago, Burghound summed up the wines as "transparent, elegant and pure."
Stylistically, Ballot Millot seems to occupy a middle territory between the very reductive style of Meursault that you find in producers like Coche, Roulot and Boisson and the richer, oily style of old school Meursaults. The wines are clear, energetic and detailed, without being totally shy on richness and grandeur.
Ballot Millot's 2017 Perrières possesses an incredible amount of complexity and a staggering, refined elegance. The wine has a beautiful focus with a driving, laser-like minerality. It's clearly a first-class wine.
The 2017 Perrières highlights so much of what I love about this vintage for white Burgundy - the tension, the clarity of expression, and the impeccable harmony. All things considered, this is a dynamite example of one of Burgundy's great sites.

Neil Martin, Vinous Media: "The 2017 Meursault Perrières 1er Cru is clearly the pick from winemaker Charles Ballot this year. It has a wonderful, mineral-rich, tensile bouquet that displays much more energy and conviction than the Genevrières. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, offering orange peel and dried apricot notes, and very long and expansive toward the finish. Superb."
