Supreme Refreshment, Serious Complexity:
2024 Boulay Sancerre Chavignol

Posted by Ian McFadden

Gérard Boulay's Sancerres are some of my favorite expressions of the appellation.

Just in time for the start of summer, I'm happy to offer Boulay's 2024 Sancerre Chavignol.

This is a bottle that has become a Crush staple. In any vintage, it's a bottle that flies off the shelves. However, the brightness and the snap of the 2024 vintage makes this edition of the wine especially noteworthy.

We created special 4-pack pricing because you'll want this in your warm-weather arsenal.

The Boulay family has held land in Sancerre for over 600 years. The Cotats, Vatan, and Boulay are all in the village of Chavignol. It's from this area that some of the most exciting and profound expressions of Sauvignon Blanc are to be found.

Chavignol is undoubtedly defined by its terroir. The soil is made up of the same Kimmeridgian marl as parts of Chablis, which imbues the wine with a Chablis-like chalky, energetic minerality.

Where Vatan and the Cotats are dense and layered Sancerres that demand bottle age, Boulay stands out for its drinkability, poise, and finessed precision. The Sancerre Chavignol marks the intersection of refreshment and complexity.

In 2024, the Chavignol combines crispness and precision along with concentration and depth. It's a dream brew. You get mineral-laden citrus notes with a tension-filled chalky core.

It's been some time since we've tasted a vintage of the wine with this level of verve. It's this quality that makes it such a perfect wine for the months ahead. Don't miss this.
