In any vintage, Montbourgeau's Vin Jaune excels at mineral-drenched finesse. The 2013 has a soaring clarity and beautiful cut. This is one of the great examples of the energy and elegance that Vin Jaune is capable of.
The area of L'Etoile earns its name from the fossils of ancient starfish that are found in its limestone soils. It's difficult not to feel that the soils contribute to the sleek precision of the Monbourgeau's Vin Jaune.
The 2013 is a racy edition of the wine delivering plenty of mineral punch. It offers up pristine notes of curry and celery salt with a precise and laser-like core of acidity.
Everything is in place for it to age beautifully. We've tasted stunning bottles of Montbourgeau Vin Jaune from the 80s and 90s. For the price, there is likely no deal better than Vin Jaune out there.
