Gevrey is known for its muscle and meatiness. The lieu-dit "Aux Echezeaux" complicates this image of Gevrey somewhat. It's located in the southern part of the appellation on the border of Morey-St.-Denis. It's more delicate and silky. Obviously, these qualities play right into Jouan's hands.

Jouan's Aux Echezeaux takes Gevrey's textbook soil-inflected minerality and adds a beguiling cast of aromatics, an enchanting textural allure and lift..

The 2016 Aux Echezeaux has really impressive detail, elegance and seductive texture. In this way, it's a classic example of the wine. However, the vintage endows the wine with an unusaul amount of concentration, blatant minerality and serious depth.
