This is one of the reasons why I made such an effort to buy as much of the 2020 as possible. For white Burgundy, 2020 is simply a brilliant vintage. Ever since I tasted the wines in the winter of 2022, I have consistently found the wines to be stunning. In short, it's a special vintage.
The 2020 Sur Gamay is a thrilling bottle. It's sculpted and powerful with a gripping and polished minerality. This is buoyed by a vivacious lifted quality that's further accentuated by bright citrus and floral notes. Above all else, the combination of power and balance is striking.Â
