2010 Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru La Forest

Posted by Ian McFadden

Dauvissat's 2010s are simply brilliant.

The 2010 vintage in Chablis is really impressive. Even in this context, Dauvissat is a standout. They may very likely be the wines of the vintage.

As is often the case, Forest is one of the stars of the line-up. We recently drank a bottle from this parcel that was other-worldly

Before continuing, we should address Dauvissat's labeling conventions. There are two labels: Vincent Dauvissat and Dauvissat-Camus. Burghound says the following about the two labels: "Because I often get this question I will add that according to Vincent Dauvissat, the Dauvissat-Camus wines are 100% identical to those that appear under the Vincent Dauvissat label."

Along with Raveneau's Butteaux and Montée de Tonnerre, Dauvissat's Forest is one of the most sought after and ageworthy 1er Crus.

In Dauvissat's hands, Forest brims with notes of saline, crushed rocks, sea-breeze minerality, and bright citrus fruits. It's a mesmerizing wine that ages beautifully.

Dauvissat's 2010 La Forest is a masterpiece of sculpted purity, defined by subtlety, balance and a keen, almost surgical precision. You’ll find a quarry of crushed rocks, fluorescent moss, briny sea foam, yellow-green fruit and chalky, etched mineral.

In recent vintages, finding Dauvissat in quantity has become very difficult. I feel very fortunate to have landed this parcel. 2010 is one of my favorite vintages of Forest in the past decade. Don't miss.
