"Terrific Energy" - Lowest Price:
2014 Lamy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly

Posted by Ian McFadden

Hubert Lamy's En Remilly is one of the benchmarks for the overacheiving 1er Cru. The 2014 is one of the strongest examples we've tasted in a very long time.

It was clear from the start that 2014 White Burgundy was something special. As the wines have had a little time to evolve, it's become clear that it's an absolutely stunning vintage.

In terms of aging, Lamy's En Remilly may very well be without peer. They are energetic, gripping and utterly clear expressions of En Remilly. When you taste the wines, especially the 2014, it's easy to imagine them going the distance.

When this very sharply priced parcel came across my desk, I jumped on it. En Remilly offers some of the best value in White Burgundy. Add Lamy's skill and the 2014 vintage and you have a can't-miss combination.

En Remilly has long been singled out as the top 1er Cru of St. Aubin. It delivers a level of refinement and depth that really makes it stand out. Lamy is a master of En Remilly, teasing every ounce of tension, elegance and substance from the site.

The 2014 En Remilly boasts the verve and concentration of the vintage. The vintage elevated the wine to a level of finesse and intensity that we've rarely seen in the wine. The class and transparency that has made Lamy's' En Remilly so highly regarded is accentuated.

I can't remember a White Burgundy vintage in the past decade that has been met with as much excitement as 2014. And Lamy's 2014 En Remilly drives home just how captivating the vintage is. At this price, this is a bottle to stock up on and cellar for a decade or more.

2014 Lamy St. Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly

Burghound: "While there is a trace of matchstick present it's not enough to completely mask the citrus and high-toned floral scents. There is terrific energy and minerality present on the impressively concentrated and generously proportioned middle weight flavors that possess a succulent yet markedly dry finish that stops just short of overt austerity. This should be approachable young yet reward up to a decade of cellar time."
