"The 2010 is fabulous; it's as simple as that." -Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
2010 Vajra Barolo Bricco delle Viole
When you start tasting the 2010s, it's impossible not to be impressed.
The vintage has a magic combination of substance, energy and terroir-saturated clarity.
2010 provided the perfect conditions for producers to reach levels of quality that we've never seen from them before
We've been really happy with Vajra's releases over the past five or so vintages. The disconnect between the price and high level that they deliver is serious. With all this said, the 2010 Viole blew us away. Nothing we've tasted prior prepared us for what Vajra achieved in 2010.
It's impossible not to feel that it's an important vintage. Even Galloni, with so much experience in Piedmont, comes right out and calls the 2010 "the greatest young Barolo vintage I have tasted."
Vajra hit it out of the park with their Viole. There's a purity, finesse and aromatic complexity that we've never encountered before. There's such a finely calibrated balance that we expect it to be absolutely stunning after decades in the cellar.
I can't think of another Barolo that delivers such outrageous complexity and breeding at this price point. All of our 2010 Barolo offers have sold out immediately. This offering will likely go the same way. The 2010 Barolos are just that compelling. And it's hard to imagine better value for the money than the Viole.
