Even in this context, we were impressed when we recently tasted through their 2020s. Oddero produced some of the best Barolos of the vintage.
Today, I'm happy to offer Oddero's 2020 Barolo Monvigliero in its debut vintage.
I've tasted the 2020 Monvigliero multiple times, and it has always blown me away.
Monvigliero is a great site in the village of Verduno. It's in a cool area that has gained status in the past two decades on account of the examples of Burlotto (who also produced an amazing 2020 Monvigliero). As vintages became warmer, Monvigliero really came into its own.
Oddero bought their parcel of Monvigliero in 2017, but until 2020 they blended it into their Barolo Normale. In its first vintage, Oddero's Monvigliero is an exemplar of the site's beauty.
The 2020 has a glorious aromatic spectrum. There's a shocking fineness and delicacy to the wine. The total package is absolutely regal.
For me, this is one of the not to be missed bottles of the 2020. Before wrapping up, I should mention that quantities are very limited. Please get your orders in early.
