Drouhin's 2008s are simply beautiful.
Drouhin always produces one of the most beguiling expressions of Grands-Echezeaux, but the 2008 is completely dazzling. It works on a grand scale and yet retains an ultra-fine detail.
The 2008 is defined by impeccable fineness, incredible texture, and a nicely calibrated balance. The articulation of fruit, spice, earth, and mineral is so clear and so precise. Burghound called the wine "a first class pleasure," and that sums it up nicely.Â
Drouhin's jewel-box style found a perfect match in the 2008 vintage. The Grands-Echezeaux really dramatizes how gorgeous the collection is. I feel lucky to have landed this parcel, but I should warn you that it's a very modestly sized one. These are the only bottles in the U.S. and will disappear quickly.Â

Burghound: "very floral and highly spiced nose that is classy, expressive and like the Charmes, really quite stylish speaks of red and black fruit, anise, sandalwood and rose petal before allowing the textured, detailed and layered medium weight plus flavors to have center stage. This is not a power example of the vineyard and it's not even especially concentrated but the balance, focus and precision are perfect. A first class pleasure."
