The Cult Wine of Envínate:
2022 Envínate Táganan Tinto

Posted by Joe Salamone

Earlier this week, I had a chance to taste through Envínate's current releases. The 2022s are among the strongest young wines I've tasted from Envínate.

Across the board, the wines stood out for their expressiveness, purity, and balance.

The 2022 Táganan Tinto was one of the wines that jumped out from the impressive lineup.

Táganan originates from terraced volcanic vineyards that overlook the Atlantic Ocean. The vines are between 50-150 years old and are composed mainly of Listán Negro and Negramoll, with even more obscure varietals included in small quantities (Mulata, Listán Gaucho, and Malvasía Rosada).

The 2022 Táganan Tinto offers up very clear red fruits and plenty of textural appeal. Many people have commented on how open the vintage feels. It's also worth pointing out how poised and finely calibrated the 2022 is. It boasts beautiful freshness with spice, smoke, red fruits, and saline notes.

There's not much left to say. Envínate has long been one of the cult producers of Spain. It's great to see them nail a vintage.
