Today, I'm happy to offer the high point of the 2022 collection: the 1er Clos des Ducs.
The 2022 Ducs is jaw-droppingly good. Burghound nails the wine when he sums it up as: "This youthfully austere effort is potentially brilliant and should age for a very long time." The wine works at an incredible scale and with precision. Everything is in place for a legendary example of the wine.
Ducs is a 2.4-hectare monopole that can trace its roots back at least 500 years. It has a high elevation at 324 meters and is a steep, southeast-facing slope with chalky soils. In short, Clos des Ducs is a special site, and it shows.
I'm going to bring this to a close. D'Angerville is one of our favorite producers. The 2022 Ducs is another example of this domaine hitting the bullseye.Â
