The 2024 "Mineral" is perhaps the most ethereal, most delicate bottling we have had since the 2016. It truly is a value-oriented masterpiece - a classic throwback to cooler times. The magic is that the wine is feather-weight, yet also chiseled, dense with concentration, and profoundly mineral.
This wine, more than any in recent memory, earns its name.
Emrich-Schönleber has long been celebrated as one of the greatest estates in Germany. In the cooler parts of the upper Nahe, they are for us one of the three unrivaled masters of dry Riesling, along with Keller and Schäfer-Fröhlich.
Schönleber's wines have never been terribly easy to find in the U.S., though their reputation is growing, and you see the wines more often than you did five years ago.
This is a good thing... until the reputation continues to grow and this wine becomes, like "von der Fels," a rarity. Savor the moment - go big!
