The Genuine Article:
2022 Gilles Cornas

Gilles' Cornas is the real deal.

Each year we eagerly await our modest allocation of one of the honest examples of the appellation.

Guillaume Gilles got his start working for Chave and Robert Michel, the legendary old-school Cornas producer who also served as a mentor to Thierry Allemand.

These serious credentials are on bold display in the frank, exacting, and very compelling wines that he produces.

Few of the new generation of growers are held in comparable esteem as Gilles.  Even Allemand is a fan. He told Vinous media that Gilles is "one of the best vineyard workers in Cornas and will be one of the best of the appellation before too long."

The heart of Gilles’ tiny domaine is the Chaillot vineyard, just 2.3 hectares, which he leased from Michel when he retired. The wines are pure Cornas: burly, structured, and powerful.

Today, we're happy to offer Gilles' 2022 Cornas. The vintage really showed off the inky, bone-crushing side of Cornas. There's black minerality and a saturating presence. As he often does, Gilles gets to the beating heart of the appellation.

I'll wrap this up by mentioning that Gilles is a small domaine and there's not much wine to go around.
