Dagueneau's work with Sauvignon Blanc is without peer.
There are no examples of the grape that reach an equal amount of depth and sophistication.
Silex is sourced from a vineyard high up on the hill of St. Andelain in Pouilly-Fumé, where there's a significant portion of flinty silex soil and considerably less clay.
Dagueneau's Silex is an absolutely riveting bottle. It combines intensity with incredible focus and mineral precision. There is simply no Sauvignon Blanc quite like it, and few that age as well. It is the distance runner of Dagueneau's lineup.
The 2018 Silex is an especially powerful vintage for the wine. Still, it maintains its signature tightly-woven core of stony minerality. Expect a seriously complex presentation of stone fruits, spice, and herbs backed by tension and lift.
Every time I drink a bottle of Silex, I'm in awe of the wine. There's something magical about its balance, nuance, and detail. I'm very happy to have another opportunity to offer the 2018 Silex.
