The Magic of Dujac Revisited:
2016 Dujac Morey-St-Denis 1er Cru

Posted by Ian McFadden

In 2016, I searched extra hard for Dujac's Morey 1er Cru.

Dujac's 2016s are simply gorgeous.

Dujac is one of Burgundy's elite domaines and with each passing year, the wines get harder and harder to come by. I feel really lucky to have recently landed another parcel and have the opportunity to offer this wine again.

The 2016 is a really impressive vintage for Dujac. The domaine's signature of intensity and saturating complexity with an ethereal dimension of perfume and delicacy is on bold display. The wine has so much harmony and is absolutely packed with subtle complexity.

What amazes me about the 2016 1er Cru is its refinement and precision. The wine offers up an irresistible seamless silky intensity. You get a combination of punch and mineral-laden verve that's dazzling.

After ten years or more, Dujac's 1er Cru has blown us away. The 2001 is a legendary bottle around Crush. Given the amount of harmony and nuance that the 2016 displays, I expect it to be stunning after some time in the cellar.

Burghound: "Here too there is just enough wood to notice framing the somewhat more deeply pitched and definitely earthier dark berry fruit-suffused nose. I like the underlying sense of energy on the attractively delineated medium-bodied flavors that flash a touch of salinity on the mildly austere and solidly persistent finale."
