The Master of Hermitage in Magnum
2012 Chave Hermitage Rouge Magnums

In terms of outright nobility and soulfulness, Chave is without peer. There's simply no better expression of Syrah on the planet.

Earlier this week, we opened up a bottle of 2012 Hermitage and all of us were blown away by it.

Simply put, Chave's Hermitage is one of the great wines of the world. There may very well be no Syrah on the planet that packs such complexity into a harmonious, subtle whole.

As all great Chave's do, the 2012 delivers regal grandeur with a refined elegance. It's gorgeously layered and complete. There are heartbreaking aromatics of violets and other flowers, spice and smoke. The palate shows a structured core with an ultra-fine driving length.

There's no doubt that this is one of the highlights of the 2012 vintage in the Northern RhĂ´ne. In magnum, this promises to be an amazing wine that has at least a few decades ahead of it.

The Chave family holds parcels in Hermitage's finest vineyard sites (Les Bessards, Meal, l’Ermite, Peleat, and Les Beaumes), and Jean-Louis blends these with an unparalleled mastery.

This is the first time that we've been able to offer Chave Hermitage Rouge mags. It's very difficult to find them in quantity. While the quantities aren't great, it's a pleasure to offer these mags. Jean-Louis Chave is one of the world's great winemakers and he nailed the 2012 vintage.
