Piero Busso is making thrilling Barbarescos. This is certainly an estate to watch.
The whole lineup is stunning. With that said, I have a soft spot for Mondino. The combination of seriousness and accessibility is difficult to beat.

In Busso's hands, this sandy clay limestone vineyard in Neive produces wines of striking silken harmony. There's a delightful expressiveness to the wine. It has very clear floral, spice, and herbal notes that are elegantly woven together.
Our tastings of the 2021 Barbarescos have made it very clear that this is a special vintage. They are so classically styled and have such energy. In short, it's a throwback vintage that we're unlikely to encounter again.
Busso's Mondino highlights just how exciting the vintage is. The aromatics pop with a staggering level of detail. There's a suave harmony that makes the wine irresistible. The depth, precision, and sheer enjoyment make this a must-buy.
Busso simply nailed it with the 2021 Barbaresco Mondino. I'm very happy to offer this. You'll surely be hearing a lot more about these wines.
