"This is probably the finest Spätlese from the Kupp I have tasted from Egon Müller" -Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
Egon Müller's 2019s are amazing. Out of the entire lineup, the most shocking of Müller's 2019s is the Le Gallais Wiltinger braune Kupp Spätlese.
Müller's 2019s are a compelling combination of intensity, poise, and precision.
Müller and his Scharzhofberg are one of the great combinations of winemaker and vineyard, but his Le Gallais Wiltinger braune Kupp should not be missed. Le Gallais is a Saar estate that Müller's family acquired in the 1950s. You can think of Wiltinger braune Kupp and Scharzhofberg as being bookends.
Where Scharzhofberg is a fairly cool site, even for the Saar, Wiltinger braune Kupp is one of the riper vineyards of the Saar. In short, the two wines work on entirely different registers.
In 2019, Müller teased out an impressive amount of elegance and shimmering radiance from the site. Braune Kupp's typical profile has dark fruit and a rich spiced element, but the 2019 is nicely lifted. The 2019 is fascinating in its high-toned florality.
I should underscore that we have a very limited quantity of the 2019 Wiltinger braune Kupp Spätlese. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.

Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Wiltinger Braune Kupp Spätlese AP #5 is one of two Spätlese selections that were made in the Kupp last year. This "regular" Spätlese is clear and fine on the delicate and flinty nose that indicates perfectly ripe and healthy Riesling and Kupp aromas along with beautifully refined herbal notes. On the palate, this is a tremendously juicy, refined and salty Spätlese with vivacious yet ripe acidity and nervy mineral tension that leads to a long, complex, very sustainable finish. This is probably the finest Spätlese from the Kupp I have tasted from Egon Müller (along with the other Spätlese, which will be auctioned)."
