Jamet is one of the masters of Côte-Rôtie.
They are consistently the best wines that we taste from the appellation.
Today, we're happy to focus on Jamet's 2023 Côte-Rôtie Fructus Voluptas. This bottling is one that we turn to often. It shows a different side of Jamet's Côte-Rôtie.

The first vintage of Fructus Voluptas was 2008. The intention was to significantly depart from the winemaking of the flagship Côte-Rôtie. Fructus Voluptas sees little to no stem inclusion and is sourced from younger vines. This yields a more fruit-driven and immediate lens through which to view Jamet's winemaking.
Fructus Voluptas has Jamet's signature finesse but achieves this with darker fruits and more overt florality. There is a serious undercurrent of crushed rock, smoke, and herbal notes.
The 2023 northern Rhônes are a layered and powerful vintage, for sure. With that said, they have a radiance and lift that really stand out. The 2023 Fructus Voluptas has textured fruit with spice inflections that are buoyed by a really nice thread of bright acidity.
The wine is even harder to find in quantity than the regular Côte-Rôtie. I should close by warning that this is a very modestly sized parcel. It's likely to sell out quickly.
