The Rhone's Old Guard
2012 Juge Cornas

Our yearly Juge offer is one that we’re always really excited about.

Few bottles have the emotional impact for us as Juge’s do. There’s simply something intangible—something brimming with soul—and a mystery about the wines.

Marcel Juge is part of the same generation as Verset, Gentaz and Trollat. He is in his eighties, but refuses to stop making wine. Every vintage, he produces around 150 cases as a hobby.

Juge's Cornas have been amongst our favorites for some time. As soon as his wines became available in the U.S. again, we jumped all over them. Back in 2011, landing the wines in quantity was relatively easy. Since then, Juge has really blown up.

For the past couple of weeks, we've been flooded with emails for Juge's recently released 2012. If you're receiving this, it means that you've supported Juge in past vintages.

Contrary to Cornas' reputation for being dark and fiercely tannic, Juge's wines have always been known for the elegance and charm that they are able to display in their youth. Yet despite their early accessibility, their reputation for aging is formidable. They age on their balance, not their muscle.

The 2012 beautifully captures Juge's signature elegance. It possesses an amazing purity and freshness and simply offers an unmediated expression of the Northern Rhône.

We see incredibly little of Juge's Cornas. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best. Every time that we offer Juge, I spend the evening allocating, so be warned.
