Few bottles have the emotional impact that Juge’s do.
There’s simply something intangible—something brimming with soul—and a mystery about the wines.
Marcel Juge is part of the same generation as Verset, Gentaz, and Trollat. He is in his eighties and up until the 2015 vintage continued to make wine. Each vintage, he produced around 150 cases as a hobby.
Today, I'm very happy to offer the 2015 Cornas, Juge's last vintage, for $449.95 per bottle.
The 2015 is an ideal final vintage for Juge. In the northern Rhône, the vintage is the total package: there's power, layered complexity, and energy.
Contrary to Cornas' reputation for being dark and fiercely tannic, Juge's wines have always been known for their wild elegance and charm. Yet despite their early accessibility, their reputation for aging is formidable. They age on their balance, not their muscle.
The 2015 is a powerful example of Juge's Cornas, but it still possesses the rustic delicacy that the wines are famous for. The 2015 has the structure to age really, really well. It leads with fruit and then underlying notes of earth, spice, and smokey minerality slowly emerge, quietly unleashing serious complexity.
I'm very happy to have been able to put this offer together. Juge's Cornas represent intuitive, low-tech winemaking that’s impossible to replicate today. It probably goes without saying that quantities are very limited. Please give us your ideal order, and we'll try our best.
