There's something magical about Musar.
The quick sell out on our offer for bottles of 2004 and 2006 last week drove home just how many people are captivated by the wines.
We rarely see magnums of Musar and these are the only magnums of 2006 currently available in the U.S.
Musar combines an aristocratic air with wild, savage beauty. How they pull off such gamey, untamed complexity with such harmony and nobility is amazing. If you had to point towards wines that share some spiritual kinship with Musar, it would be the great traditionalists of the Northern Rhône, and wines like old Tempier.
The 2006 is classic Musar. It's a brighter, more savory and finessed vintage. It's incredibly expressive with vivid notes of earth, spice and even floral tones. The earthy, structured and classical proportions are really beautiful.
Few wines brim with soul the way Musar does. It also ages majestically, which is all the more reason to pick up mags and makes it even sadder that they are so limited.
