"Thierry Pillot is a top flight talent."
2014 Paul Pillot Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Charmois

Pillot stands as one of the most exciting and thoughtful winemakers of Burgundy’s new generation.

What makes Pillot’s wines special is their unmatched purity and crystalline character.

For us, 2013 was a break out vintage for the domaine. And their 2014s are, unsurprising, beautiful.

A few weeks ago, we offered Pillot's 2014 Bourgogne Blanc and the offer blew up, selling out before the day ended.

I've said this many times before, but 2014 is one of the greatest young white Burgundy vintages that I've tasted. There's a completeness to the wines that shocks me everytime I drink them. You get a rare combination of verve and mineral clarity, along with a crazy amount of concentration and presence.

Even in the context of the strength of the 2014s, Pillot's wines are stand outs. Across the line up, the wines have precision and a brilliant thread of driving minerality.

The Saint Aubin 1er Cru Les Charmois is one of the great deals of Pillot's line-up. Saint Aubin has long been a home for Burgundy value seekers. Few villages can compete with the layered depth and steely verve that Saint Aubin delivers for the price.

Pillot's 2014 Les Charmois soars with clearly defined floral and citrus tones and a complex minerality - there's a driving stony core, with smoke and hints of earth. There's a rounded and regal power with an animated backbone of acidity. It's the combination of force and agility that really wows you.

Burghound has said of Thierry Pillot: "It’s becoming clear that Thierry Pillot is a top flight talent. If you haven’t tried the wines, you should.” We couldn't agree more. I'd advise you to jump on these soon. Everything is clicking at this domaine and pricing simply hasn't caught up.

Burghound: "A mild hint of reduction does not completely mask the pretty floral scents. There is a bit more volume if a touch less minerality to the vibrant, delicious and round medium weight flavors that culminate in a balanced and seductively textured finale that possesses reasonably good depth and persistence."
