Clos de la Barre is one of Lafon's iconic wines.
This is one of the rare village wines that's chased with the same fervor as Lafon's Grand Crus.
The 2020 Clos de la Barre is a great example of this legendary wine. It is richly layered with a beautiful amount of snap and tension. The Clos de la Barre is beautifully integrated with complex citrus notes.
This monopole of Lafon's is one of the great examples of villages level Meursault. Sourced from mostly old vines, including ones planted in 1950, with shallow clay soils over hard limestone subsoils, the wine is a mineral tour de force with plenty of class.
I'm going to wrap this up. Clos de la Barre has a huge following among Burgundy fanatics. This won't stay around for long.

Burghound: "Decidedly cooler aromas include those of green apple, lemon rind, sliced fennel and floral wisps. There is a similar level of underlying tension to the richer and more voluminous flavors that deliver fine persistence on the bitter citrus and youthfully austere finale. This almost always boxes above its weight and 2020 will only add to that admirable track record."
