"This classy effort is exceptionally promising." -Burghound

I have a soft spot for Leflaive's Combettes. I have had too many mindblowing bottles for it to be otherwise.

When Leflaive's Combettes is firing on all cylinders, it is a wine of extraordinary refinement. There are few, if any, 1er Cru white Burgundies that display a similar level of breeding.

In Crush's twenty years open, we've only been able to offer Combettes one other time.

I put an enormous amount of effort into looking for this wine. I'm a huge fan of Leflaive's 2023s. They are all about finely calibrated balance and luminous transparency.

The 2023 Combettes has a stunning brilliance in its delivery of minerality and citrus flavors. There's finesse to the extreme, while being amazingly graceful with a subtle, building complexity. The 2023 delivers all of this with a cool, unyielding precision.

Simply put, Leflaive is making utterly brilliant white Burgundies. This is one of the storied domaines of Burgundy. Even when you keep that in mind, the wines they are producing are incredible. You don't have to look any further than the 2023 Combettes for evidence.

Burghound: "A more reserved though more elegant nose somewhat grudgingly offers up its array of the essence of pear, exotic tea, blend of floral elements and a background whiff of petrol. The super-sleek and more refined middle weight flavors also retain excellent delineation that carries over to the bitter zest-inflected finale that is both slightly longer and a bit more compact as well. This classy effort is exceptionally promising and a wine that should age gracefully for a decade plus."
