This explosive effort is almost aggressively saline"
2011 Dauvissat Chablis Les Clos

Posted by Ian McFadden

Simply said, Dauvissat's 2011s are stunning.

The wines are above all defined by their purity and their minerality.

Dauvissat's 2011 Les Clos in particular is riveting in how it delivers a complex spectrum of oceanic minerality. In his tasting note, Burghound lists "seaweed, iodine and mineral reduction." 2011 Les Clos powerfully delivers textbook Chablis notes - this is Chablis distilled.

Generally speaking, the 2011 vintage in Chablis combined the ripeness of a vintage like 2005 with some of the minerality and cut of more classic vintages like 2007 and 2010. In a way that's fairly miraculous, Dauvissat was able to take the added richness of '11 and translate it into a monumental minerality.

The Grand Cru of Les Clos needs no introduction. Among Chablis' Grand Crus, it is the undisputed king. Les Clos is as powerful and densely mineral as Chablis gets. It is Chablis at its most statuesque, dazzling and complex. All of its power and sea shell minerality are married to supreme elegance.

I'll wrap this up up with a warning. We have an extremely small parcel of this and finding Dauvissat Clos in any quantity has become very difficult. This will disappear.
