"This is a fine Clos de la Marechale."
2022 Mugnier Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale

Mugnier is a part of Burgundy's elite.

There's no shortage of stunners in the lineup. In the past handful of vintages, I've developed a real fondness for Clos de la Maréchale. This is the value in Mugnier's stable and one of the best buys for the money in Burgundy.

Today, I'm happy to offer Mugnier's 2022 Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale at the very sharp price of $149.95.

Mugnier's Maréchale is a fascinating expression of Nuits-Saint-George. The village is known for its muscle, and its characterful rustic edge. Mugnier renders it with an incredible amount of refinement without sacrificing terroir or character.

In 2022, the Côte d’Or produced suavely textured wines that at their best have beautiful balance and luminous cores. Mugnier's Maréchale shined in this vintage. The 2022 Maréchale combines a lovely velvety texture with serious punch with a lengthy, mineral-inflected finish.

For me, Maréchale dramatizes what a precise and skilled winemaker Mugnier is. It’s a wine that overachieves in such a memorable and compelling way.

Title

Neal Martin, Vinous Media: "The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos de la Maréchale 1er Cru has an open and expressive bouquet, quite pure in style, with brambly red fruit, loam and light iris flower scents. The palate is fresh with a slightly chalky-textured opening. It offers black plum and raspberry fruit with a very saline, quite feisty finish that manages to retain composure. Long finish. This is a fine Clos de la Marechale."
