In any vintage, Ballot-Millot's Bourgogne Blanc is a go-to bottle for us. However, the 2022 has a dazzling citrus-infused energy, driving minerality, and a silky, harmonious texture that makes it special.
Ballot-Millot nailed a finely tuned harmony in 2022. The Bourgogne Blanc offers plenty of richness, but it is set off by a saline mineral tension. The impression is one of weightlessness. All of this is delivered with great purity.
Ballot Millot’s roots in Burgundy are seriously deep: they began amassing vineyards back in the 17th century. The domaine has been one to watch ever since Charles Ballot took over in 2001. When Ballot took over, he began reducing yields, improving farming practices, and updating equipment. The level of quality rose dramatically.
The 2022 Bourgogne Blanc dramatically underscores just how careful the winemaking is. It's rare that you get this much precision and depth at the Bourgogne level.
