As we've written before, Thierry Pillot is one of Burgundy's top talents, and there's no place where this is clearer than the Chassagne AC bottling.
There are few producers of white Burgundy who craft wines as tension-filled, crystalline, or detailed as Pillot. They are simply riveting wines.
Pillot's 2021s are jaw-droppingly good. They are on the shortlist for best of the vintage. It's worth quoting Burghound's enthusiasm for Pillot's 2021s: "In fact, when considered as a portfolio, they could well be the best I have ever seen from the domaine, and I have been visiting for almost 30 years now."
The 2021 is mineral-drenched and laser-focused. It's a wine of intensity and finely etched length. For me, it recalls old-school vintages that I suspect won't be replicated again any time soon.
Even though he's firmly established as one of the Burgundy's best, Thierry Pillot continues to craft wines that impress me more and more with each vintage. The 2021 Chassagne is simply stunning.

Burghound: "Super-fresh aromas include those of rosemary oil, petrol, sliced pear and bright lemon-lime wisps. There is outstanding density to the utterly delicious and beautifully intense medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent cut and drive on the balanced, clean and decidedly dry finale. This could use better depth though more will almost certainly develop if given a chance, and overall, this is a terrific Chassagne villages. Highly recommended."
