Bartolo Mascarello's Barolo is one of the wines that, for me, is essential to have in the cellar. It's that good.
When talking about Bartolo, it's impossible not to focus on the über-traditional methods. Maria Teresa Mascarello is fond of saying they're "The Last of the Mohicans." But what wins you over is their precision and their finesse.
Mascarello's 2022 Barolo impresses with its radiance and nuance. There's exemplary finesse. It possesses a gorgeous weave of floral notes with bright red fruits and savory undertones. Antonio Galloni writes: "This is a very beautiful, vivid wine." That captures the wine nicely.
The aging curve for Bartolo Mascarello's Barolos is epic. The difficult part is that there's always very little wine to go around. Production is limited, and few other Barolos are as sought after. As we've already said, this is a modest parcel, so we advise that you get your orders in early.
