This is a wine for the darkest part of the cellar
2010 Dujac Charmes-Chambertin

I've been sitting on this parcel of 2010 Charmes-Chambertin for a while.

Even when you factor in how great 2010 was in Burgundy, what Dujac turned out is extraordinary.

Out of the entire line-up, the Charmes was likely the most eye-opening for me.

For me, 2010 marked a major turning point for Dujac's Charmes. Please don't misunderstand me: I've always liked the wine, but the 2010 reached a level that shocked me. The 2010 Charmes shows a level of structure and complexity that puts it at the level of Bachelet's Charmes, which comes close to existing on its own plane.

The 2010 Red Burgundies are so bright, pure and transparent. The Charmes comes across as simultaneously energetic and profoundly deep and multifaceted. Antonio Galloni, says "This is a wine for the darkest part of the cellar." That's good advice.

I've had fascinating conversations with Jeremy Seysses about the Charmes. The wine has become increasingly important to him. As Jeremy tells the story, when the domaine converted to biodynamics, it was the Charmes that jumped out as having changed the most. He realized that Charmes was a wine capable of real muscle and Grand Cru majesty. For me, the 2010 is "Exhibit A" for this.

Dujac's 2010 Charmes shows an incredible length and breeding. There's Gevrey's signature earthy minerality combined with dark fruits, spice and floral notes. I love its precision and firm, framing minerality. It comes across with aristocratic seriousness.

There's no doubt that this is one of the great examples of Charmes. Word quickly spread about how stunning Dujac's 2010s were. I'm very happy to offer this small parcel at the lowest price around.
