"This is also very good for its level and unusually powerful for a Meursault villages." -Burghound
Ballot-Millot has become an essential part of our white Burgundy program.
Each year, we taste through the lineup and find several gems. We consistently find some of the strongest examples at the villages level.
The bottle punches well above its weight class. It boasts undeniable energy and detail without sacrificing richness. There's an impressive drive and presence.
The 2021s are some of the most exciting wines we've tasted from them. They possess concentration and verve that astounds. Burghound sums up the collection as follows:Â "the Ballot 2021 whites are absolutely stunning and very much worthy of your interest."Â
The 2021 Meursault is very impressive. It's lifted and rich with a tactile minerality. Stylistically, Ballot-Millot falls between the reductive style of Coche and Roulot and the voluptuous, oily style of old-school Meursault producers.Â
Ballot Millot’s roots in Burgundy are seriously deep; they began amassing vineyards back in the 17th century. The domaine has been one to watch ever since Charles Ballot took over in 2001. When Ballot took over, he began reducing yields, improving farming practices, and updating equipment. The level of quality rose dramatically.
Beginning with the 2014 vintage, it's been exciting to watch Ballot-Millot go from strength to strength. The 2021s are simply brilliant. Don't miss this!
