"This is built-to-age"
- 2015 Simon Bize Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Aux Vergelesses

When it comes to soulful and long aging wines, Simon Bize always delivers.

Still, the 2015 Vergelesses is something special.

Out of Simon Bize's Savigny wines, Vergelesses is always the most structured. Along with La Dominode, Vergelesses is Savigny's top site. Bize's 2015 Vergelesses is really serious.

The 2015 red Burgundies boast an incredibly concentrated profile with plentiful, but refined tannins, and a staggering amount of freshness and elegance for such a ripe vintage. Bize's wines highlight the best qualities of the vintage. The wines have a penetrating intensity while maintaining a really nice poise.

Simon Bize is red Burgundy exactly as we like it. Their combination of finesse and wildness is endlessly fascinating. The wines are defined by their stony cores and complexity.

The 2015 Vergelesses has an incredible punch and palate presence. The dark fruits feel steeped in wet earth. There's a crushed rock minerality with spice notes. A simple tasting note doesn't come close to capturing the rugged, and immensely compelling, honesty of the wine. It's something that's brought me back to Bize's wines again and again for over a decade.

For Burgundy lovers and Bize fans, the 2015 Vergelesses is a must-have. Simon Bize produces some of the most authentic, thoughtful, and too often overlooked wines we know. The domaine has produced no shortage of stunning wines, but the 2015 leaps out as something special.
