“This is easily of villages level quality” -Revisited: 2017 Bachelet Bourgogne Rouge

Posted by Ian McFadden

In any vintage, Bachelet's Bourgogne Rouge punches well above its weight class.

In 2017, the Bourgogne Rouge functions at an even higher level. When Burghound writes, it’s “easily of villages level quality" that's spot on.

At as low as $49.95, you get a lot of wine for the price. I should point out that this is the lowest price in the country.

We’ve become big fans of the 2017 vintage. The low-stress vintage produced classically styled wines that are bright, expressive, and joyful. The best examples, like Bachelet’s, offer an impressive level of refinement and textural elegance.

The 2017 Bourgogne Rouge is a knock-out. Even for Bachelet, it boasts an unusual level of depth, intensity, and balance.  There are red and black fruits, earthy notes, and gorgeous tension. A lacy texture perfectly balances its sparklingly clear verve.

We never turn down an opportunity to buy Bachelet’s Bourgogne Rouge in quantity. Only a select group of winemakers, such as Mugneret-Gibourg and Bachelet, produce such profound and thoroughly exciting examples of Bourgogne Rouge.

Every year, people stock up on Bachelet's Bourgogne Rouge by the case to both drink and cellar. I'm happy to have a second opportunity to offer the wine. Since Bachelet’s estate is a mere 4ha, demand always exceeds supply. Don’t wait.

Burghound: "A pretty and very fresh nose speaks of black raspberry and forest floor aromas that are trimmed in subtle oak nuances. There is both excellent intensity and detail to the delicious middle weight flavors that offer especially good depth and persistence for the genre. This is easily of villages level quality."
