Lafon's 2017 Porusots is epic.
The wine is a finely etched and tension-filled powerhouse.
When it comes to Meursault, Lafon has few peers. You'd have to look towards Coche and Roulot. In recent vintages, it's become clear that Lafon is at the top of his game. The 2017 Porusots is an utterly compelling example of the level that Lafon is working at.
The 1er Cru Porusots is an east-facing vineyard with deep clay soils. The site produces lavish, layered, and deeply structured wines. Lafon endows this site with a serious muscularity.
Lafon's 2017 is a wine of dazzling force and verve. The intricacy of its architecture is jawdropping. It's rare to find a wine working on this breadth and scale that's this poised, detailed, and lifted.
The 2017s at Lafon are equal to his stunning 2014s. The 2017 Porusots is one of the shining examples of how great the white Burgundies from this vintage can be.

Burghound: "Here too there is a whiff of petrol suffusing the cool green fruit, hazelnut, lemon rind and discreet matchstick whiffs. There is once again excellent richness to the broad-shouldered flavors that coat the palate with dry extract before concluding in a muscular, powerful and citrus zest-infused finish. This is excellent though note that as usual, this is built-to-age and a wine that going to need it."
