In no time Colin-Morey has been catapulted to the highest echelon of white Burgundy domaines.
People speak about Colin-Morey's wines in the same hushed way that they speak of Coche-Dury and Jean-Marc Roulot.
Simply put, they are extraordinary wines. Tasting them it's obvious that they are some of the greatest white Burgundies that are being made anywhere, by anyone.
The Chevalier is one of the absolute high points in the stunning line-up. Colin-Morey's 2015 Chevalier is a strong candidate for the most successful white Burgundy of the vintage.
Colin-Morey's Chevalier is painfully rare. Allocations are typically doled out very selectively and bottle by bottle. Being able to offer bottles, and especially magnums, is a major feat.
There's no doubt that Chevalier-Montrachet represents one of the greatest expressions of white Burgundy, right there with Montrachet. Compared to Montrachet, Chevalier is less rich, but it's not shy on grandeur or intensity. The story with Chevalier is energy, detail, regal elegance and a nearly absurd depth of complexity. There's nothing quite like it.
As you can imagine, Chevalier becomes absolutely magical in Pierre-Yves Colin's hands. The signature here is crystalline expressions of citrus, flower, stone fruits and mineral with explosive complexity and rigorous detail.
The 2015 Chevalier is shocking. It delivers an amazingly clear and incisive acidity with a firm core of crushed stone minerality. There's a remarkable weightless intensity.
This is one of the offers that I've spent years hoping to make happen and one that may not happen again. It's a pleasure to offer.
