"This struck me as like a mini-Clos"
-Stephen Tanzer
2013 Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru La Forest
Dauvissat killed it in 2013.
I can very clearly remember tasting the 2013 Dauvissats while traveling through Burgundy in February. They were great.

Along with Raveneau's Butteaux and Montée de Tonnerre, Dauvissat's Forest is the most sought after and long-aging 1er Cru. The major difference is that Dauvissat's Forest can be had for a fraction of the cost.
For this reason, Dauvissat's Forest is one of our key Chablis offerings. A while back, offers were no problem, but at this point it's become difficult. Forest has achieved a lot of deserved fame. Every year I wonder if I can pull it off.
The 2013 is special. Speaking bluntly, this was a tough vintage. There were issues with rain, rot and ripeness. Still, a select few produced very good wines and Dauvissat is at the top of the list. You don't have to look much further than Tanzer's "mini-Clos" comment or Burghound calling the Forest "a highly impressive effort" to get a sense.
This is a bold Forest with tons of concentration and a decisive core of minerality. There's plenty of punch, presence and Chablis' sea breeze minerality.
There are very few wines, especially from Burgundy, that offer as much cellar potential and as much complexity at this price. I suggest that you stock up.
