2010 Clos Erasmus
Priorat's Queen: Majestic, Refined and Beguiling

"This wine's blend of power and finesse is something else."
-Josh Raynolds

Among the big names of Priorat, Clos Erasmus is consistently the most elegant and refined of the region.

In 2010, they hit this style dead center. The 2010 Clos Erasmus is destined to be one of the finest ever from the tiny cliffside vineyards of Priorat.

I'm happy to offer a very small parcel of 2010 Clos Erasmus for $168.95 per bottle.

2010 in Priorat is an important vintage. As the Wine Advocate's Neal Martin, has written: "I gauged a consensus that 2010 is a bona fide "classic" vintage, one that winemakers regard as one of the greatest in their (albeit) short history."

The 2010 vintage for Priorat mirrors France's Rhone Valley; the wines possess a lovely core of acidity with a vivid minerality and ripe tannins. The aging potential is great.

Daphne Glorian is widely considered the Queen of Priorat. The founder, co-owner and co-winemaker of Clos Erasmus is one of a handful of individuals that put Priorat back on the map and catapulted this lovely wine region onto the international stage.

Along with her longtime winemaker, Ester Nin, this power-packed duo of female winemakers has established Clos Erasmus as one of the trinity of Priorat benchmarks along with Alvaro Palacio's L'Ermita and Rene Barbier's Clos Mogador.

2010 Clos Erasmus displays an impressive balance and tension between the seductive fruit of Priorat and the structure and minerality.

It's this balance and acid-driven structure that bodes well for aging. With age, Clos Erasmus becomes deeply complex and savory.

Our allocation of the fantastic 2010 Clos Erasmus is limited. Please give us your ideal order and we will do our best to accommodate.

Josh Raynolds: "An intensely perfumed bouquet displays scents of black raspberry, redcurrant, Asian spices and incense, with slow-building floral and mineral qualities. Sweet, concentrated and polished, with silky texture and noteworthy intensity to its sappy red fruit and violet pastille flavors. Finishes sweet, spicy and extremely long, with relentless flavors of red berries, minerals and candied flowers. This wine's blend of power and finesse is something else."
