"This young man is a clear talent"
2019 Pierre Girardin Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières

2019 marks the twenty-four-year-old Pierre Girardin's third vintage.

Already it's obvious that the domaine's wines are animated by a very compelling and singular style.

As is so often the case with the 2019, Girardin's wines really flaunt his signatures of precision, impact, and finely rendered purity.

Today, I'm happy to offer Pierre Girardin's 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières in both bottles and three-liters.

It's rare that I get to offer three-liters of white Burgundy.

Pierre Girardin is the son of Vincent Girardin who sold his extensive domaine in 2011, but held on to some choice vineyards that Pierre now farms. These holdings are supplemented by long-term contracts with growers to produce a range that includes many of Burgundy's top sites. There's everything from Montrachet and Romanée St. Vivant to Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières.

The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières is a pitch-perfect expression of the vintage with amazing concentration, clarity, and harmony. There's a saturating minerality with a sense of power and grace. Girardin's wines almost miraculously marry subtlety and intensity.

The 2019s will surely cement Pierre Girardin's status as one of the most exciting young producers in Burgundy. In this vintage, the wines are a pitch-perfect expression of the vintage with amazing concentration and clarity. Don't miss this.

Burghound "A whiff of the exotic is present on the layered aromas of white and white orchard fruit, especially white peach and passion fruit, along with hints of citrus and acacia blossom. There is even better volume and mid-palate concentration to the rich and punchy yet caressing medium-bodied flavors that flash a bit less minerality on the bone-dry and equally complex finale. This is also lovely and really quite classy.."
