Thriving On Subtlety and Grace:
2013 Castell'in Villa Chianti Classico

Posted by Ian McFadden

Castell'in Villa is one of the great, traditional and honest examples of Sangiovese.

For decades, Castell'in Villa has been a benchmark for the region. Somehow, the wines still seem to cruise under the radar.

Slowly, this seems to be changing. The wines are too compelling to be ignored. I've recommended a bottle of Castell'in Villa to many serious collectors and they've always come back to buy the wine in quantity.

Castell'in Villa's style is one of harmony and exacting precision. The wines flaunt a magical combination of verve, transparency and pure power. For me, the total package is amazing.

This is one of the most historic, time-tested estates in the region. Their style of harmony and precision allows the wines to age incredibly well, while remaining ultra-finessed and agile.

The 2013 is stunning. It's a vintage of great purity and elegance with explosive mid-palate. You get depth and soulfulness plus a beautiful vivacity and lift.

This is one of the wines that I reach for often. The wine offers a fascinating subtlety and freshness that keeps me returning to it. It really excels at the table. I'm happy to offer.
